New dog in town

A puppy is not quite as bad as a baby, but it sure is a punishment, just the same. In this case, of course, it's a self-inflicted punishment. There must be some sort of amnesia-inducing pheromone or what-have-you that makes you forget exactly what an incredible inconvenience both babies and puppies really are. I've always said that human infants have to be cute or you'd abandon them by the side of the road; well, this includes puppies, too. So, Mr. Tips is cute. See for yourself:

Of course he's making the older dog crazy; I caught him hanging off her lip the other day and her chest and neck are getting cut up from his teeth and claws. She wasn't sure what to do with the little rat, at first, and kept deferring to him over food and toys but now that he's gotten bigger she's willing to kick some heinie when it matters. Even when it doesn't, in truth: My 8 year old Boxer suddenly cares very deeply about a rolled up rawhide chew that has been lying on my floor for about 2 years, now that there's competition for its affections.

I call that 'Ignoring Dad' and it is something they specialize in, just like the children...
